An "information portal" created as part of my Information Architecture module at City University London. The idea was to create a website on a topic using information already out there on the web, organising it using good IA principles and then creating detailed wireframes and implementing as much of the site as possible in Wordpress.
I chose to create a site with resources for data journalists interested in data mining and visualization, and spent a lot of time organising information by topic into categories that would be useful for both beginner and more experienced audiences. I gave each category a name that would make its contents instantly recognisable to users, and created a broad, shallow hierarchy allowing users to reach the information they need in the fewest possible clicks. I allowed for some overlap with posts appearing in multiple categories in cases where this would help the user find what they needed, and tagged each post following a strict system so that posts could be easily browsed by tag.
